Waldorf School Testimonial

By Julie McCallan, Sandpoint Waldorf School, Idaho
This is an unsolicited feedback we received from one of our many satisfied charter clients.

"We had a wonderful trip to Bahia de los Angeles! Ever since we returned (and even during the trip), I (and the students and other adults) have been praising Green Tortoise! The trip far exceeded my expectations. I have led my class on numerous trips in the Northwest and I have always been the one to plan the itinerary and the menu and to do the shopping and to supervise the cooking. This time all of that was taken care of!

The driver was great! The class decided by the end of the first day that he was COOL and by the end of the trip they exclaimed that he was one of the best parts of the trip and they invited him up to Idaho! He was very clear in his instructions and firm in his standards but he maintained a patient, calm demeanor and a sense of humor throughout the trip. He was sincerely curious and open and joined in many of our discussions and all of our nightly reviews of the day and thus he quickly became not just a driver and cook but a respected and beloved member of our group. Thank you so much for assigning him as our driver.

The stay in Bahia de los Angeles was inspiring and delightful. Antonio was a remarkable host, driving us to and from town, connecting us to community members and students, and depicting for us the social and ecological challenges of the community. His explanations made us feel that we were doing community service just by paying for the teenage boy who guided us on the hike up the mountain or the fishermen who took us out on boats around the bay. It was spring break so some plans with the students fell through (like the beach clean up), but Antonio was always quick to create an alternative. Many of my students enjoyed playing soccer and talking with Antonio's son, Tony, and his friends. Every morning, as I sat on the beach watching the dawn, I was filled with great awe and wonder: at the beauty, the warm and friendly Mexicans, the rich opportunities for learning about the culture and the environment, and the way in which those of us on the trip grew into a tight community.

I will highly recommend the Green Tortoise to Waldorf teachers! I am so glad that one of your catalogs found its way to our school last fall! Thank you so much for all of your assistance in planning our trip.
